papers of J. Gregory Smith (1818-1891) of
St. Albans, Vermont, a director of the Vermont Central Railroad, Vermont and
Canada Railroad, and Northern Pacific Railroad. It includes some papers related
to the Canada Atlantic Railway.

It's an ill wind that blows nobody good and when an engine of the Canada Atlantic Railway toppled into the Rideau
Canal, the bell was salvaged and placed in the steeple of Holy Trinity Church. Eventually it was replaced with chimes
and the bell now calls the faithful of St. Augustine's Church in Newington to worship.
